A week in the life of Hannah

My Princess Hannah Banana Before Ballet Class. She also takes hip hop but this was Ballet day!

Before Class

And Again...

This is how dance mom's have to watch the class practice, we aren't allowed to stand at the door and watch or to go in the room because we will distract the children, whatever makes them think that?? :)

A big part of the start of every day is getting Hannah's hair done for school, now you may think this just involves a brush, well you would be wrong! Hannah's hair is long and how smooth my day will start all depends on how much conditioner was used or if Hannah was a wild sleeper that night... or... if she mysteriously got some foreign object lost in her hair... you know... dried chocolate milk and such!

She wanted a bun today. I don't know why. I don't ask questions. I just get the hair finished as quickly and as stress free as possible so that we can get out the door and to the school on time!

Miss High Maintenance!

Before school one morning Hannah neatly made some of her babies a bed on the floor and put them to sleep for the day. Hey... Why can't I stay in bed all day too?!?
And when Hannah plays outside, she discovers things... Here she found an old soda can top in the dirt, she was like "MOM WHAT IS THISSSSS".... So my kids got a history lesson of the soda can. On closer inspection of where she found the top, she said there were teeny tiny people walking around in the cracks of the dirt. We've yet to be able to dig them up! She has the greatest imagination this child!!

Fairies

Hannah believes the white round fuzzy bit on this photo is a fairy, she had a loose tooth this day & believed that this was most likely the tooth fairy coming to see if her tooth was ready to come out!! Hannah is such a hoot!!

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Things have just been belly up lately. Completely. But I refuse to let things get me down. Every single area of my life, except for my children, has become stressful. I try my very best to live these 10 rules already, but hey... I'm far from perfect, and I know I can work on number 7. In a big big way I can work on Number 7. No excuses, just "manning" up and facing life head on, problems and all, without running. I'm taking life by the reigns. No feeling sorry for myself. No relying on any person to support me and my children. Helping... Helping is okay, I don't mind when people want to help me out, I don't mind that because we all need help now and again, and I don't mind helping others either. But I want to be my own "go to person", I want to stand on my own two feet. I know I can. I've already started. And without laying it blatantly out, I will say that there are a couple of things I must face and take care of NOW, and once I take care of  the couple of problems in my life I must address, I will always revisit 7, to make sure I'm not copping out and running from anything.

My little Drama Queen

Last night Hannah wrote a song (about love, she's a little romantic :) She made a dance to go along with it. And here she decided to act out a play. Ahhhh.... My life to come.... Will be full of My little Drama Queen... I'm sure of it :)

Now this is one gorgeous boy!!

Now this boy is a looker. Bright gorgeous blue eyes. A smile that lights up the room. And... Well... he's 16 and planning on joining the US Air Force and will one day leave me... sigh. Why do children have to grow so fast???

Always Reminiscing About London

Even though I am blessed with being able to go to London often, I still pine for it when I'm not there, I just found a few photos, a few of my favorites of London....First, I adore red phone boxes, I don't know why, there is just something about them... I collect them now, and last Christmas my boyfriend even got me a red phone box tea pot!
These trees. I mean look at these trees. Just growing and minding their own business in East London.
A peek through at St. Paul's Cathedral...
This was my first walk across the Millennium bridge, yep... been to London so many times and didn't get across this bridge. See... The thing about London is, once you go you fall in love with the city straight away and you want to go back to your favorite places... So It's my goal to see more and more of the city each time I visit. Because once I live in England, real life will take over and I'm sure I will only find time for my most favorite of places again! (Tower Bridge :)
Here's a photo of the Shard before it's completion this past summer.
And if you look closely at the little dots on the Shard... those are window cleaners... I bet it was windy and FREEZING up there!
Me In Trafalgar Square.
And a wonderful old pub we passed along side the Thames walking from the Millennium bridge to Tower Bridge... we didn't stop for a meal or a drink, but we had a peek inside and it was old and antique looking, smelling a bit musty and wonderful... that old English smell...

And of of my all time favorite photos... This little guy was in a park in London, I gave him my Ice Cream cone and he ate it! There are some very friendly squirrels in parts of London! They will sit on your lap and take peanuts right from your hand! This one was in Victoria Park, In East London.

Parenting isn't for wimps!

Parenting isn't for cowards. I write this after I just had "words" with my son. I feel quite proud of myself that I did not once lose my temper. Easier said than done when your teenager is being a rude mouthy smart aleck, like telling me to "shut up", well, that's not as rude as he got, but.... Parenting is... IS hard work! The easy part was the baby stage & the sleepless newborn nights!!!!
I think one of the mistakes we make as a parent is letting our pride get in the way, freaking out and saying "How dare you speak to me like that!!!!"... Isn't the answer. I've learned, It's best to walk away, and let our actions speak, as actions are so much louder than words! There are always consequences to how we behave, I believe if our teenagers behave badly they need to NOT be screamed at but to suffer where it hurts... These days it seems that losing an electronic device is what would hurt the most but with my son it's hunting or going to the ranch. He actually told me tonight he's not a kid anymore and I can't ground him!! I guess when he's home looking at me or the four walls this weekend he will know that I meant business! It really felt good not losing my temper tonight.

I can't get enough of Tower Bridge

This is by far my most favorite place in the World. I love this exact spot after I have walked across Tower Bridge and then sit here, under the trees on the benches in front of The Tower of London looking at the Bridge.

Every trip, I can't get enough photos of Tower Bridge!

Frame Covered with Tube Maps From London

I love tearing paper, I don't know why, it's just my "thing", and though I'm okay with how this frame turned out, I think I might go for a more "wrapped" look with the paper next time. Anyway, I started with a pile of ripped map pieces from the Tube in London
I put a coat of gesso on the frame before I started to add the pieces of map with Mod Podge.
The Left Corner is to Heathrow in London... a place of memories!
I wasn't greedy with the Mod Podge... the more the better!
Starting to dry...
For the life of me I could not get a decent photo of my frame, but I put a picture of my partner at Tower Bridge in this frame. I plan to make more and I'm sure my technique will get better with each try.
And the top... All around I added pieces of map, I didn't actually do the back though, I didn't see the point at the time, but now thinking about it, I will do the back next time so that if the back of the frame is showing on a table or shelf, it doesn't look tacky.

Bat Capital ... Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas. Waiting for the bats to fly out! Under Congress Bridge!
