London, England. It's time to go again!

I'm off to London again next week.

It's Spring Break. So while others are putting on their bikini's (You do NOT want to see me in one of those), I'll be putting on another layer because it's so cold in London still!!
Temp in London today?
46F and 8C
We are getting into the 80's here in Austin!
I'm afraid I only get a week in my glorious City, but this trip is to spend time with my partner and not for lallygagging around the city. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm going to be hitting my bridge (for those of you that don't know the Queen will most definitely give me Tower Bridge one day :), we will also do a small trip to another part of the city that day, we always take one day to go about the sights, but my real reason for being there is to chill with my guy... Here is what I imagine the Queen's face will look like after I ask for Tower Bridge as a gift....
I really hate being away from my kids, it it weren't so blasted expensive they would be on every trip with me. Since I plan to finally live in England next year, they will experience England first hand.I just wish they could come with me. I've signed them up to a day camp at the Rec Center, they get to make kites, go bowling and do all sorts of other stuff while I'm away, their dad takes them and picks them up so they have evenings and weekends with their dad, which they love. I always miss them though. I call them every single day and they text me for free.

What are you doing for Spring Break?

Mail from England!

First I was :) Thank you so so Much Donna (At The Tulip House!!:)

I LOVE "snail" mail. Old fashioned mail, and when it comes in the form of a package, of course I'm going to double :) :)...

But then I was :(
The Post Person was a bit rough with my package this time.
This was an absolutely lovely candle holder with the words "Thank you" on the side.
I'm sad that it arrived broken but I am very touched to have received it in the first place, Thank you Donna, you made my day with mail from a special person in England... I did salvage the candles..
And in the envelope were 3 chocolate candies in the shape of lollipops... Andy and Hannah claimed one immediately and Andy excitedly said "THEY PUT CHOCOLATE ON A STICK IN ENGLAND?!?!"...
Hannah ate hers and asked "Why does England have better chocolate than us?"... (The British know their chocolate, that's for sure!!).
I'm afraid this is all that's left of mine...
Thank you again Donna... You Rock!

Not a good way to start the morning.

My Little Hannah is ill. So grandma was taking care of her today.
When I drove her over at 6:30am I backed up into what was a "usually empty driveway", I looked behind me on one side, but not the other and WHAM! Her truck had very little damage, in fact I could barely see a mark, but my van... Oh boy.
That will teach me.
It was 100% my fault.
It wasn't the best feeling having to get out and tell my mom's neighbor at 6:30am that I just hit her truck! She was okay about it and just took my insurance information.
Oi Vey! What a way to start the day!

Hannah, on a better note, no longer has a fever but a nasty head cold. Hopefully she'll be on the mend quickly.
I hope your morning was better than mine!

There is light at the end of the tunnel!

The last thing I'm sure anyone wants to see on my blog is one more thing about my apartment. But these are memories that I want to look back on one day, and I want them for me.

Moving is such a stressful process, in a good way, but stressful none the less... When you wake up to this especially...
Working full time means that I get the weekends to unpack and make order of things. Of course with life still happening, like laundry and chasing children! But there is order coming about and It's really nice unpacking things I haven't seen in awhile, a lot of my stuff has been in storage as I was staying at my Brother's house while he was in Honduras.

Everyone needs Music when they're unpacking.
My playlist for the day...

Of course no one would know that I even like the UK by coming into my house :)

I purchased this print when I was in London in November and I haven't bought a frame for it yet, I really need to do that though, it's turning out to be a fast favorite... I picked it up just outside of King's Cross Station.
And this is dear to my heart, of course it's a private thing, only special to me. The Cockney introduced me to the comedy serious "Only Fools and Horses" some time ago and I absolutely love it! Anyway... there is this one episode where they are in Spain and Del Boy calls his Brother "El Wally"... Well The Cockney and I had differences on how to properly say it afterwards, as I have an American accent and he has a thick London accent... so we both wrote our versions... Silly? Yes. But we all have little things in our relationships that make us smile.
I'm not a coffee drinker but I do love English Tea, and I like these... They also blend well with my "Red" because I have to have my phone boxes about...
I completely forgot I even had these little cheese cutters, Andy asked me "Mom do you think they meant to make the knives smile?"... haha!
Do you think I have enough sprinkles? I love decorating cupcakes and cookies with the kids.
I'm a prepared woman. No matter what Holiday you throw at me :)
I have this huge box window in my kitchen and I'm slowly filling it up, I need some plants and English Ivy, maybe a philodendron as well.
Here are some of the things I love... My favorite flower is the Magnolia and the Tea Pot set I bought in England roughly 22 years ago when I lived there. I was using the camera on my phone, so the photos aren't the best quality.
My bathroom has NO storage, so I had to buy this over the toilet shelf, only $19.99, so I can't complain.
I still haven't used this soap, it's just too pretty...
Hannah is over the moon, Her and Andy had boxes and boxes and boxes of toys, I have to go through a lot of them because some of them are getting donated. We also unpacked a lot of her clothes and we found this gorgeous pink dress, it was last years Easter dress and it still fits her! I love buying clothes for a girl :)

Other fun finds... This pictures of Nicky when he was 13. He's 21 now.
One of Joshua's books from when he was younger. It makes me smile just looking at the cover. I'm going to save it until he has his own kids. Joshua is 20 now.
After unpacking a lot of the toys, there was absolutely NO room in the bedroom for Hannah's doll house so it's been moved to the Living room. She doesn't mind, neither do I. Children are young for only a blink of time, one day the toy clutter won't be a problem so I'll enjoy it while I can!
This, however, if a little problem... This is a lot of my craft and scrapbook stuff I haven't unpacked yet, and I have no idea WHAT I'm going to do with it all! I'm going to have to get pretty creative and organized quickly!
All in all... Things are going good, not counting these boxes, I have about 20 more boxes to unpack and then I'm finished! Yay!
Here's Hannah putting her panties on her Pooh Bear, she cracks me up... She's just my little angel.
My precious girl...
Life is good. I have children in my life, I have laughter, I have a man that loves me and I love him, I have a good job, I'm starting classes back up, I'm healthy, I'm living one day at a time. I'm happy.
And eventually, every last box will be unpacked!
Today is President's Day in the States. A bank holiday here. I had to go to work as it's a Teachers Work day, but I'm home now and loving chilling out in my own apartment! Actually, I think a nap is in order, and then maybe unpacking a box or two... "Maybe". :)
Have a great week everyone!

Bye Bye Plastic Bags

Austin, Texas has banned plastic bags!
We have officially 15 days left to use plastic bags, after that. Nada.
Austin is the first big city in Texas to ban plastic and I'm ecstatic!
I've told people for years PLASTIC DOESN'T GO AWAY!! You can reuse it or break it down, but it never goes back into our Planet. Not to mention that when plastic bags do begin to break down, they release harmful toxins into our soil! I'm really pleased that Austin has gone even greener, many people that visit this city say they've never seen so many trees and such a clean city! It would be awesome to see London go as green!

I'd like to add another little note to this post that I wrote last night. When I'm in London, my partner "The Cockney" and I rarely use plastic bags. It's quite easily sorted no matter where you live or regardless if you have a car or use public transportation. We actually get a large fold up bag like the one you can get from Target in the States or Iceland in England, they fold into a small (roughly 8"x8") size and snap closed. When opened they have large long handles and you can fit many other carrier bags inside of one. We prefer these bags because once we buy groceries we can carry our bags on our shoulders and free our hands when we are using busses and the tubes in London.
Happy Valentines Day!

1 Box. 2 Box. 3 Box. FLOOR!

I can see floor!!
I'm getting there, slowly but surely...

Hannah and I went shoe shopping for some new flats for her dresses and she begged and said she'd clean the WHOLE house if I bought her some "Heels"... Of course my 8 year old isn't going to clean the whole house, BUT, I did get her the sandals, that she says are her high heels... She also picked out the silver flats, I LOVE shopping for a little girl! The purse that matched the shoes was on clearance for $4!

I splurged and bought new fabric storage boxes to organize the kids toys, since I'm limited on space, I think it will be worth every penny! I found them at Target.
I hope you're all having a great weekend!

Nosey Parker

I'm not a nosey person.
But I have to admit... One of the things I love most about blogging is being able to peek into peoples homes & their lives. Not to be nosey... well maybe a little nosey.
I like seeing how other people live, their decorating, child rearing, cooking and crafts. Its often like actually going for a visit. In the days of our grandmothers they had to physically get dressed and go out to visit a friend, today we can lay in bed as I'm doing now and go for a visit. I wonder if this has made me a bit introverted? I wonder if I'd be more social if I didn't have technology?
But alas, I do have technology... So if you'll excuse me, I must get back to my nosey parker"ing" :). But I first leave you with the secret to a happy marriage...  You must certainly "wine" more! (I kid I kid!)

Just in time to decorate ...

I am so blessed.
Seriously. God has blessed me with the most loving and generous people.
My surprise blessing... Helen made & sent me the cutest things!! The best part? It was on the day I moved into my apartment and I can use them all to decorate with!
I'm blogging from my phone and having trouble with linking but Helen's blog is
Helen is quite the crafter as you can see... Hannah helped to model Helen's lovely work & our new decor :) I'm doing my kitchen in red accents so these items are perfect!
The cowboy print cracked me up, perfect for Texas yet it came from England!
Thank you Helen... You're truly the best!

Well. Apparently I'm more of a pack rat than I will admit to. Or.... Maybe having kids just means eternal closets full of "stuff"... But but but.... If it once belonged to the kids how do I get rid of it?
Its time to let go. I have to let go. Here we go again. I've done this before. Complained about all the things I have. I'm moving into a small 2 bedroom apartment with 3 kids. The boys will share a room and Hannah will be in with me. I also can't treck across the Atlantic with tons and tons of stuff! I can't handle clutter... Does everyone freak out when they move? Or is it only me?
I can sell things, Donate things... But what do I do with that 10 year old Storm Trooper with the missing arm?? My boys played with that :)
The paint is still drying but here are some photos. I'm helping tutor children tomorrow but after work we are going to start moving ... I see many many boxes in my future!!
The Cockney has been helping me collect Red Phone boxes and Union Jacks so they will look good with the black accents in the kitchen.
I'm excited about being able to sit on the back patio off of my bedroom and just read & relax... I have no one living behind me, so maybe I'll have peace and quiet, I'll feed the birds and squirrels.
Any ideas or hints on how to decorate that fireplace?
